2.2 Choosing a Topic and an Organization

Today's lesson will be about:




Objectives
You will be able to:
  • Produce or assess topics to be appropriate for Individual (Problem/Solution) Research Paper (IRP). 
  • Identify the characteristics of a good topic for IRP.  
  • Identify which organization is reliable and appropriate for IRP.
  • Find possible organizations with mission statements that match your IRP topics.

Task/Prompt: Choose an organization that is actively working towards addressing a problem in society (community, state, region or country) affecting a distinct population (women, animals, children, etc.). Write a problem/solution paper that describes and critiques at least two current solutions offered by the organization and recommends how to improve them.
